Hopscotch Theatre Company is a Theatre In Education provider and has been entertaining young people in Scotland with fun and educational theatre performances and drama workshops for 23 years. We tour to primary and secondary schools the length and breadth of the country, bringing an enjoyable learning experience to thousands of children each year.
Our theatre productions and workshops are curriculum based and come with Teacher Resource Packs with lots of great Curriculum for Excellence lesson ideas. Our pantomimes feature curriculum themes, such as healthy eating, environmental awareness and bullying.
Most of the Hopscotch Theatre shows are suitable
for Primary 1 through Primary 7 and some are adapted for Secondary pupils S1 and S2. Theatre performances and pantomimes run for approximately 55 minutes. Drama workshops are aimed at Upper Primary – S2 and last 90 minutes. Explore Robert Burns’ life, his poetry and life in Scotland at that time through our highly interactive drama based workshop!
Active learning will be encouraged through children’s questioning and interaction, using drama conventions such as hot seating, thought tracking and conscience alley; and by creating scenarios using freeze frame and other drama techniques.
