Entertaining Education

Hopscotch Theatre Company have been creating high quality, hugely hilarious, cross curricular linked performances and drama workshops for the young people of Scotland for the last 24 years.  Our aim is to encourage and nurture an appreciation of Scottish culture and the performing arts from an early age.

From our base in Sunny Govan, Glasgow, we produce three full scale touring productions per year in Spring, Autumn and Winter which tour the length and breadth of Scotland.  From the Borders to Thurso, you’ll see our bright yellow Hopscotch van on its merry way, reaching around 30,000 young people per tour.  Now, that’s around 90,000 young Scots per year and since their formation in 1988, that’s what, 90,000 times….Well, safe to say, it’s kagillions!

Hopscotch Ethics

We pride ourselves on being ‘school friendly’ by making our productions available to schools with smaller school rolls and limited budgets and there is no hard sell and no obligation to re-book.  Our Scottish based actors are chosen for their excellence as performers and not as salespersons.  We are ‘curriculum friendly’ canvassing feedback from every school we perform in and acting on that feedback to make our productions fulfill demand from schools and the CFE.  Our specially commisioned original scripts and songs come from Scottish based writers.  We are ‘audience and pupil friendly’ in that we limit our audience sizes so that each pupil experiences the very best of our performances, no one is stuck at the back unable to see and hear properly.
