An exciting and enthralling dramatisation of Robert Burns‘ epic poem.
Hopscotch’s “Tam o’Shanter” is a hilariously entertaining production which visually illustrates the sometimes obscure language of the poem while retaining all the drama, excitement and dynamism of this universally acclaimed epic. Two performers, no staging, few props. Performed “in the round” in an area of 15ft x 15ft to an audience of approx. 120.
Join the more than slightly tipsy Tam as he clambers aboard his long suffering, but trusty grey mare Meg, and sets off into the heart of a wild storm, for a confrontation with witches, warlocks and ‘the deil himsel’! Performed in the round and with audience participation, our versatile actors will bring to vivid life the many colourful characters from this epic, cautionary tale, full of couthy humour and dark mystery.
There are numerous contexts for Learning across the Curriculum, particularly in the key responsibility of Literacy across Learning.
Two actors. Duration: 40 minutes plus a 15 minute question and answer session with the actors, during which the pupils will have the opportunity to find out more about the work of Robert Burns and develop an understanding and appreciation of the poem “Tam O’Shanter”.
