What A Load Of Rubbish! 2009

When two schooldchildren, Janet and Mike, go to spend their holidays with their Gran in her little country cottage they expect nothing more exciting than a few weeks of fresh air and tranquility. However, before they even have time to miss the Playstations and pollution of city life, the children discover that something even more whiffy is in the air when a massive landfill site appears on the horizon.  As the waste tip threatens to engulf them they are brought face to face with the reality of civilisation’s throw away culture and decide that they have to save the countryside, the world and, more importantly, Granny’s garden from catastrophe. They decide that such a massive problem requires two approaches; Janet decides to declare her rights as a citizen and goes to tell the Prime Minister to sort it out while Michael investigates what he can do on a local and personal level by not producing so much waste in the first place.

Will Janet save the Planet? Will Michael learn to recycle? And how can we all do our bit before everyone is knee deep in waste? Find out in Hopscotch’s ‘What a load of Rubbish!”
