We are delighted to announce that we are seeking two performers for our next school touring production, PLOP! IN THE OCEAN. We are looking for performers with a passion for children’s theatre, who are skilled movers.
Plop!” is an ancient Greek slapstick comedy for children ages 4 – 8 to help them learn about plastic pollution, based on the popular myth of Poseidon and Demeter. It’s designed for first time theatre goers to support children’s wellbeing and confidence in participating in arts and cultural activities. It brings sustainable design practice so that we can work and support its own environmentally friendly message which performers will utilise to create these eco landscapes.
This casting is open to performers with or without formal training. Although, experience of school touring or working with children is desirable, but not essential.
ROLES:
The following roles are available;
DEMETER:
Playing age: 20-35 years.
Gender: Open to any gender.
Description: Demeter is the Goddess of Earth and Queen of the harvest. They are on a mission for much needed peace and quiet, but that is difficult with Poseidon around!
POSEIDON:
Playing age: 20-35 years.
Gender: Open to any gender.
Description: Poseidon is God of the sea, storms, earthquakes and horses! Poseidon means well but is a bit of a distraction and doesn’t quite stick to the plan that Demeter sets.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for performers who are interested in developing their skills working and touring theatre for young audiences. We are casting for fourteen performers to work across the above two projects.
Applications are welcome from performers who we have not met before and we welcome applications from people who identify as; global majority, LGBTQI+, disabled or neurodiverse, working-class and/or marginalised in the arts.
