We are delighted to announce Andy McGregor as Director for our 2022 touring pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk, by Isla Cowan.
Andy will join the creative team bringing Jack and the Beanstalk to life for children and families across Scotland this Winter. Jack and the Beanstalk will see a full return to live in-person touring to schools and families across Scotland, bringing our acclaimed high-value, family-friendly, participatory pantomimes back to audiences.
Andy is a well-known and respected face in Scottish Theatre who makes fast-paced, upbeat theatre, normally with a focus on original music.
Andy is a director, composer and playwright based in Glasgow. He trained at Glasgow University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He is Artistic Director of Sleeping Warrior Theatre company – shows he has written, composed and directed for them include Crocodile Rock, A New Life, Spuds, The Rise and Inevitable Fall of Lucas Petit and Love 2.0. He has also written, directed and composed Goldilocks Goes to Greece, Pure Freezin’ and Vinyl Idol (with Debbie Hannan) for A Play a Pie and a Pint. Crocodile Rock (Play a Pie and a Pint) was also performed at Cumbernauld theatre and broadcast on the BBC. He wrote and composed The Park (National Theatre of Scotland) as part of Scenes for Survival and wrote and directed Ever Young (Beacon Arts Centre) a short film. He has also made various Christmas shows for wee ones at The Citizens Theatre and wrote and directed Lost in Pantoland and The Snow Queen (PACE). He has directed The Dolls Dragged Up (Scottish Tour), Disturbed (Play, Pie and a Pint), Godspell (RCS) and various Shakespeare’s for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He co-directed Dead Air (Stockroom). He has composed for The Royal Court, The National Theatre of Scotland and the National Youth Theatre. He composed and sound-designed The Ugly One (Tron). His play Influence, was commissioned and performed for 6 theatres UK-wide, from Dundee Rep to Plymouth Royal. andyrmcgregor.com
