DIGITAL MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS GRADUATE

Deadline: Monday 11th Oct, 5 p.m

Reports to: General Manager

Contract terms: Fixed term: 3 months (with a view to extending contract dependent on funding)

Salary:  £22,000 per annum (pro rata 0.6) fixed term.

PRIMARY PURPOSE 

Hopscotch Theatre Company is on the lookout for a dynamic, proactive, and creative marketer to join our team. To help us improve the way we communicate and market to our existing stakeholders while helping us find new audiences and develop sustainable relationships with the company. In the first instance, this would be focused on our exciting upcoming hybrid digital and live pantomime tour for December 2021.

The role would be best suited to a creative and inventive person. They should be confident in taking the lead on all things marketing and communication as part of a small friendly team and supporting the other members of staff with ongoing projects. Hopscotch Theatre Company would appreciate someone who can assess our current communications and take the opportunity as we emerge into a digital post-COVID landscape to help us communicate with our audiences more effectively. It will require a visual and responsive approach to working across all digital platforms such as our website and social media channels to reach our stakeholders and audiences. 

There will be a strong focus on devising a digital strategy for selling the company’s upcoming pantomime via lead generation, digital campaigning, and leading on creating innovative and effective social content.  We also want to know what our audiences need to help their own recovery so we would like someone who can support us in evaluating our audiences and applying that to make our productions and marketing campaigns a success.

We are looking to develop deeper and more sustainable relations between the company and our audiences in order to reach a more diverse audience and make our activities more accessible and visible via online channels.

BACKGROUND

Hopscotch Theatre Company is a leader in the Scottish theatre sector creating community performance, developing creative learning projects, and commissioning new writing for 33 years primarily for school and community settings.

We focus on new writing development working with playwrights and creatives to bring diverse voices to children’s theatre and push the expectations and possibilities of what theatre for young audiences can be. We believe theatre is a vital tool for children to explore nuanced and challenging topics in a supportive way to nourish the development of empathy, mindfulness, and emotional wellbeing. 

Every year we develop and tour with our annual pantomime. For panto 20221 we’ve been collaborating with playwright Zoë Bullock with our new adaptation of Puss N’ Boots. It promises to be a family-friendly solar punk hit with a hidden eco message to delight young audiences.

Due to the impact of COVID, we are reimagining the way we can keep our communities connected and deliver our work. That is why this year we are aiming to deliver a hybrid model of digital and live. So we feel excited that this role will create new opportunities to test digital marketing and project delivery this Winter. 

Digital has become a huge part of what we do, and when the pandemic hit last year, we had to learn fast. We have just recently done an overhaul of our company website, utilizing our new branding which was updated in 2019. 

We are led by a small team of enthusiastic professionals that have a passion for children’s theatre. We are looking for another team player to insert their energy and dynamism and take up this challenge immediately on our digital platforms. We are looking for someone to make an immediate impact in the short term to strengthen our engagement with children and families across Scotland into the future.
